Genius Idea. I think..
I’ve been really struggling with My Little Man (as I will call him on the internet) this week. He has just been an all around brat. And I know he can be sweeter than that, so I’m trying to figure out why he’s acting this way.
He’s being demanding, rude, manipulative and whiny. Today he crossed the line and punched his friend in the face. Granted, they were wrestling around and fighting but MLM took it too far and involved his fists. Unfortunately, this is not the first time he’s done it.
Personally, I think his parents haven’t taken a hard enough line against him about it, which is why he keeps doing it. But I know it’s hard being a parent (which is why I don’t want to be one for a looong time).
Anyway, my somewhat genius kid-friendly idea for working on MLM’s manners/attitude starts with a chart of sorts. I’ll make a list of things he has to do every single day and if he does them all week, he’ll get some sort of treat.
The things will include:
-Not whining when told no
-Not blaming other kids for anything - taking responsibility
-Not pretending to be hurt for attention
-Saying please and thank-you, every time
-Keeping all comments positive
-Not speaking about violent things (i.e. video games)
-Asking permission POLITELY
-NOT interrupting
-Listening carefully
Hmm..
